Gaza Strip

More than 10,000 children have suffered injuries with lifelong consequences.

Since the start of the war, 151 children have lost their lives in the Gaza Strip due to acute malnutrition, the majority of them in 2025, according to the latest data from Palestinian health authorities.

More than 400 people have died from malnutrition in Gaza, 85% of them in recent months.

At the end of last year, the Palestinian Ministry of Health reported 54 deaths from malnutrition since the war began in 2023. By mid-September, that number had risen to more than 400.

It is estimated that by June 2026, at least 132,000 children under the age of five will suffer from acute malnutrition, including more than 41,000 severe cases of children at increased risk of death, the ICF added.

The Gaza Strip has an urgent and widespread need for basic humanitarian supplies across several sectors due to the ongoing conflict, the blockade, and widespread infrastructure destruction. The main needs include food, medicine, fuel, clean water, and shelter materials.

Food

  • Food and Nutrition Basic Foods: Flour, sugar, cooking oil, rice, lentils, and preserved foods are crucial to combating food insecurity, which affects millions of people at risk of famine.
  • Nutritional Supplements: These are needed to treat acute malnutrition, especially in children.

Health

  • Medicines: There is a critical shortage of essential medicines. In September 2025, it was reported that 54% of essential medicines were unavailable.
  • Medical Supplies: There is a severe shortage of basic medical items, such as blood units, gauze, external fixators, and insulin.
  • Medical Equipment: Damage to hospitals has resulted in the loss of crucial equipment, such as incubators and oxygen delivery systems.
  • Hospital Fuel: The lack of fuel for generators has put hospitals on the brink of closure, jeopardizing emergency medical care and the operation of incubators.

Water and hygiene

  • Drinking water: Water infrastructure has been severely damaged, leaving the majority of the population without access to safe water. This has led to outbreaks of waterborne diseases.
  • Hygiene kits: Kits that include soap, towels, toothpaste, feminine hygiene products, and diapers are needed to prevent the spread of disease.

Refugio

  • Shelter materials: Tents, plastic sheeting, blankets, and winter clothing kits are urgently needed for the thousands of people who have been displaced and are living in makeshift shelters or on the streets.
  • Emergency shelters: UN agency facilities, such as UNRWA, have been evacuated, damaged, or declared inaccessible, limiting the capacity to accommodate displaced people.

Challenges to aid delivery: Despite the urgent need, the delivery of these supplies faces serious challenges due to blockades, access restrictions, and the security situation. Although a large amount of aid is stored in the region, it is often prevented from entering Gaza.

Ukraine

12.7 million people in Ukraine need urgent humanitarian assistance.

Russia's war against Ukraine, which began in February 2022, has claimed a large number of civilian lives and destroyed vital infrastructure. As a result, millions of people have been forced to flee in search of safety, protection, and aid, crossing borders into neighboring countries, and some people are also displaced within Ukraine. All of them urgently need support and protection.

More than 12.7 million people in Ukraine urgently require humanitarian support, including more than 3.6 million people displaced within Ukraine by the large-scale war. As of January 2025, approximately 6.8 million refugees from Ukraine were registered worldwide. The war has increased the need for health care while reducing the system's capacity to provide services, especially in active conflict zones.

The war has increased the need for health care while reducing the system's capacity to provide services, especially in active conflict zones. Attacks on health care facilities: The World Health Organization (WHO) has recorded more than 2,200 attacks on health care facilities and ambulances since the start of the war, severely disrupting health services. Shortage of supplies: There is a dire need for medical supplies, especially trauma and surgery supplies, power generation equipment, and ambulances, according to the American Sociological Association.

Mental health: The war has led to a massive deterioration in mental health among the population, with increased stress, anxiety, and depression, according to an article on ScienceDirect.com.

The war has increased poverty, with millions of Ukrainians falling into poverty, undoing years of development gains. The civilian casualty figures are alarming, with thousands dead and wounded, including a high number of children who have lost close relatives.

Ukraine urgently needs humanitarian supplies such as shelter, medical and psychosocial support, food, and hygiene items for its displaced population. In addition, military supplies, especially artillery shells and long-range rockets, are required to defend against the Russian invasion. Finally, the country needs supplies for reconstruction, such as materials to repair homes, and for economic recovery, including machinery for its industry. Humanitarian and Social Supplies:

Shelter and Accommodation: Safe accommodation is needed for the thousands of displaced people and expedited repairs for damaged homes.

Medical Assistance: Basic medical supplies, such as medications for trauma and explosion treatment, as well as sutures, painkillers, and blood transfusion systems, are crucial.

Psychosocial Support: Psychosocial support is vital for the emotional recovery of people affected by the conflict.
